Something we see very often is unwelcome guests entering the home via standard roof flumes. Standard mushroom-style vents are not only very restrictive for airflow, but they are also open to outside air, allowing pests to enter the system by following cooking smells and oils from the roof vent down to the range hood, often breading maggots!

Reducing Flies in the Kitchen

Flies are a major issue in Australia and even a bigger issue when they are finding their way down into your cooking areas. Over our 20 years’ experience installing range hoods we have seen many issues with blowflies breeding in ducting and in most cases finding their way down through the rangehood motor and ending up on top of filters directly above the stovetop.

The house fly and the blowfly together harbour more than 600 different bacteria, according to scientific research. Many are linked with human infections, including stomach bugs, blood poisoning and pneumonia.

Pest Proof Venting

Our Dragon Vent range of vents are all enclosed meshed vents to cut off entry to flies and other insects but have been designed not to impact the flow and performance of kitchen /BBQ range hoods and ceiling fans.
